Whitehouse were appointed by Western Power Distribution (WPD) to undertake civils works to substations, as part of their five year Civils Framework.
The overall scope of works contained within this framework include new 33 kV substations, 33kV Transformer Changes, 132 & 66 kV switchgear changes and 33 kV switchgear changes.
In addition to the above overall scope of works, Whitehouse, using our directly employed, specially trained workforce, have undertaken all aspects of new switch building and refurbishment.
This includes access roads, kerbing, foundations, ground re -profiling and hard & soft landscaping.
Recently, our ECI with WPD’s Project Managers resulted in the decision to install pitched roofs, in favour of flat.
This decision was reached after Whitehouse commented that, over time, flat roofs tend to leak within the switch buildings. Whitehouse ECI has reduced the whole life cost for WPD and, where appropriate, pitched roofs have been rolled out as the standard roof of choice.
Our specially trained workforce are disciplined in all areas of working within live substation environments, holding all necessary qualifications, and are fully experienced in working in close proximity to overhead cables and equipment.
This professionalism and dedication to safety has resulted in WPD appointing Whitehouse to more than sixty separate schemes within the last three years and throughout their operating area.
