As a contractor on the Coventry City Council Highways Framework, Whitehouse were awarded the Coventry City Council House Square Public Realm redevelopment.
As this scheme lies within the heart of the city, intricate traffic and pedestrian management was required in conjunction with continual engagement of our customer Liaison Officer with all affected stakeholders.
The works consisted of replacing the dilapidated paving with new natural stone flags and setts, realigning the highway and all associated street furniture installations.
All works were undertaken by our in house workforce providing the highest quality workmanship.
We provided Coventry with a robust programme consisting of a phased approach to the works, minimising disruption and increasing productivity. We were able to work around the local businesses, conducting shop frontage works out of hours to minimise the impact upon trade.
Careful consideration had to be given to existing services due to the road realignment element of the scheme.
We were in constant dialogue with statutory undertakers to ensure services diversion were undertaken in a timely manner therefore avoiding programme delays.
Due to an overseas dignitary visiting the city, we had to work to a fixed deadline. This scheme was part ERDF funded and due to budgetary deadlines, ECI was provided to assist with design development. We were able to add significant value engineering to the design which saw consequential cost savings, allowing additional works to be undertaken.
