Junction improvement works were required in a heavily populated residential area in Derby, enhancing the safety of local road users with works including signalisation of junctions, carriageway widening, new surface water sewer and storage tank and advanced service diversions.

Undertaken as part of our inclusion on Derby City Council’s Highways Framework, the scheme required extensive stakeholder liaison and traffic management to maintain the safety of all involved and minimise disruption to homeowners and road users.

Developing traffic management proposals in pre-start meetings, our Contracts Manager recommended phased construction, split into four separate phases allowing us to maintain traffic flow at all times throughout the works.

Traffic management including road closures, diversions and three-way traffic lights were managed and maintained by our NRSWA trained traffic control officer on site.

Enabling homeowners to move their cars, we plated driveways and our comprehensive customer care training meant complete homeowner satisfaction throughout works.

Local resident, Rex Archer commented: “We have grown to enjoy their company and good humour…”
