Due to the ever changing environmental climate we now face in the UK flooding is becoming a serious environmental concern. Flooding doesn’t have to be from bodies of water such as a river, below are diagrammatic representations of flooding from sewerage systems.

The Solutions

Each property is different, consequently a site visit is essential in determining the solution. Therefore a preliminary site visit is carried out with every project in order to survey the property and detail to the customer exactly what the work will entail.

Flood Gates:

All of Whitehouse’s flood gates are individually designed and manufactured for each property. They are manufactured out of dense wood from a certified sustainable source. They boast a unique sealing system in order to act as a barrier to keep out flood water. They are aesthetically designed in order to blend in with a property so you can’t tell the difference between a flood gate and a standard gate.

Flood Doors:

Flood doors are again designed to look like traditional UPVC doors, however they are specially designed to seal and make the door opening water tight in times of a flood. These can be used in conjunction with airbrick covers to make the external face of a property watertight.

Non Return Valves:

Non return valves are placed on a properties sewer connection by form of a chamber. They act to allow flow from the property to the sewer but contain a valve to stop sewage water surging back up the line into the property. This therefore protects the property from the entire sewage system and alleviates problems such as the surcharge of sewage up outlets such as toilets and sinks. As these are placed underground they are barely noticeable.

Other solutions:

There are a wide variety of solutions to mitigate flooding from a property. Although the main mitigation measures are outlined above, Whitehouse also uses other measures, as stated previously it is highly dependant on the vicinity and situation of each individual property.
