Well done to the rafters that braved the weather last Saturday to become Severn Trent raft race champions of 2008.
Just in case you can't recognise them, the team members were:
- Ross Ward
- Jody Day
- Dick Smith
- Rupert Tagg
- Richard Slater
- Duncan Collins
After last years first round exit the challenge was set. The heat saw the team getting warmed up and they were in second place until a takeover on the last stretch saw Whitehouse steam into the lead. The semi final was a more dominating race with the guys leading from the word go! Then onto the final where the lads had a cracking start setting the best lap time of the day winning the race by a full length of the course!
The awards were given to the team by the chief executive of Severn Trent, Mr Tony Wray.
Thank you all for your support and effort.
Well done to the team and supporters who braved the mud and rain, next year I'm sure we can defend our title!
