Pic Tor Park Restoration for
Derbyshire Dales District Council

Pic Tor is one of four Victorian parks situated in the Derwent Valley, linking Matlock with Matlock Bath along the river Derwent. Pic Tor was named after the tor on which the War Memorial stands overlooking Matlock Town. The park has seen a complete transformation with the addition of a new access bridge, re surfaced pathways, lighting and illumination of caves, & the war memorial, and uplighting under the railway bridges together with seating and litter bins along all pathways.

Funded in part by the Heritage Lottery Fund the scheme value was £300K. Landscape designs were by Faulk Perry Culley & Rech, with Quantity Surveying by Meller, both from Lockington Hall.

Chairman Brell Ewart said when handing over the completed works. "The residents and visitors to Matlock can enjoy once again, and now with even greater splendour, the magnificent walks that this park provides. We are delighted and proud to have successfully completed Pic Tor Park Restoration project for Derbyshire Dales D.C. our home Local Authority".
