The replacement road bridge over the Midland Railway line at Bullocks Lane, Riddings,Derbyshire was opened to road and rail traffic on Friday 5th April. The new bridge costing over £200K was designed by Derbyshire County Council who funded the scheme that replaced the original 1860s wrought iron structure. The project was completed on time over a 12 week programme.
The first steam locomotive to pass under the new bridge was Royal Train steam locomotive DUCHESS OF SUTHERLAND travelling out to Crewe before running to Glasgow on a special train.
