Mondelez International required enabling works undertaking for their new production line, producing sugar-free soft mints at their food manufacturing facility in Sheffield. Works included stripping out a redundant facility and all civil & structural enabling works including conversion of the 2nd & 3rd floor of the operational facility, installation of roof mounted plant and utility and electrical services infrastructure installation.
Effectively coordinating works throughout the scheme was vital due to the considerable number of other contractors undertaking works in the confined area. Collaborating with Mondelez Project Managers and other contractors in pre-start meetings allowed us to develop robust phasing plans and programme achieving best value solutions for Mondelez.
Our Contracts Manager and Site Manager worked with other contractors, mainly M&E specialists, to develop a joint programme and safe systems of work, particularly where our works interfaced with existing operations.
Clear segregation, fencing and hoarding was established ensuring no unauthorised access and safe delivery was achieved. Allocating personnel who were familiar with Mondelez hygiene, security and safety protocols enabled the manufacturing facility to remain operational for the duration of works. Construction techniques and methods were utilised to prevent noise and dust pollution such as pressure activated internal screens and continued sweeping of the works area to ensure no debris at the end of each shift.
Utilising our real-time data capture and sharing software, our commercial team, alongside our Contracts Manager and Site Manager, produced detailed reports on works progress and communicated all information to Mondelez Project Managers in daily reports.
This, coupled with our robust programming and phasing plans, effectively minimised disruption to critical operations providing best value for Mondelez throughout delivery.
